DELVING BETWEEN THE TOES OF LIFE....I AM TOEJAM

2001-12-14 - 5:29 p.m.

AHHHHH....snow. Someone shouted, "It's snowing!" at work today and I squinted to see out the window which didn't quite work because I am becoming increasingly more blind every day, so I wandered outside to feel it falling upon my face in loud wet thumps. It was snow, soggy and dense, but it was snow never-the-less. And I am happy. Felt like a great weight had been lifted from my shoulders, finally we can settle in to the familiar for a couple months until our bodies start clamouring for spring. Alas, by the time I got home the snow had turned to rain and I didn't get my quiet, snow afternoon at home with hot tea and patient music.

Noticed at work today that you can tell a lot about people by the various ways they all perform the same task. I noticed that when I get ice I take four buckets with me and fill them all at the same time. Only I don't do it one by one, I put one scoop in bucket one, then one in bucket two and so on until all four are filled at the same time and then I carry three in my hands and kick the other back to the front. I am very efficient in my ice getting habits. Jennifer on the other hand will take two buckets back, fill them, one first and then the other, carry them up front, do as many waters as she can with the two buckets and then go back and get two more. She is very concise with her ice getting habits. I am a very impatient and quick person, not always the most precise or orderly about things, but the fastest, Jennifer is not always the fastest but she is always the most precise, most orderly. It's funny. I am going to watch other peoples ice getting habits over the next couple weeks and see what I can see about them. I wonder how Osama gets ice?

Numerous comments today about my picture and write up in the paper. Most people congratulated me, told me they were proud, but a lot of people said things like, "Gee, I thought you were just a pretty face.", "I didn't know you were a WOP.". Who'd you steal that poem from?" blah blah blah. Felt like kicking a lot of people today. BUTTTTT.....I am feeling really motivated to write now because I am finding that I am liking this celebrity thing even on this small of a scale. I mean, I like that people know I suceeded at something even if it isn't the spelling of the word succeeded. God, how do you spell that?

My friend is coming home from France this weekend for a couple of weeks. I am really looking forward to seeing him, talking to him, drinking the french wine he is bringing me back. It will be interesting to see what two years in France does to a nice American boy.

Right now there are two fifteen year old boys in my living room watching TV. One of them is my younger brother who is obsessed with porn and always tries to watch the porn channels when he is here. I can hear them whispering in the other room, probably trying to figure out how they can turn the porn on while I'm in the house without my noticing. Damn kids. The other day I was doing my yoga and they came in the house in the middle of my session. I told them to leave me alone and they did for a second but a minute later my brothers friend came back out and said, "I'd rather watch you excercise." Needless to say I kicked them out of my house. Junior pigs.

My kitty is curled up in my lap as I write this, he is snoring loudly, very content. His little face is buried into the curve in my arm and his paw is resting gently upon my upper arm, like he has to keep a finger on me for fear I will get up and interrupt his peaceful kitty dreams. He is so damn cute.
